Thando Dlamini fell in love with the film and TV industry when she landed her first role on Soul Buddyz at only 14 years old. She is multitalented and boasts a passion and ability for acting, singing, and dancing. After matric, she studied psychology, to later realize it was not for her. Fast forward to many years later, she began her writing journey. In 2020, she took part in a youth filmmaker program, where she wrote a short film named Cuffed up, which was selected as one of the films to go into production. She then went on to take part in a directing program, where she was taught to direct and pitch a story, which ended up airing in a prime-time slot on SABC 1. At the same time, she became an intern at Bump Films. One of the projects she has credit for while working at Bump, is a documentary called “I, Mary”, which went on to win an award at the Durban International Film Festival, as well as the 2022 SAFTAS. She has since opened her own company, Lineage Productions, which has received funding from the NFVF and the GFC to produce more short films. Although Thando has found her way as a producer, her first love and passion has always been and always will be the performing arts.
